Don't get me started. A long while back I made the mistake of extending my experience to people operating in the Beltway that were traveling to China. This is before the days of Covid. Even at that time it became quite clear that any messaging beyond "China is the new evil empire" would not get an audience. There is actually a Select Committee on China in Congress which is, technically, meant to bring in experts to explain all things China to these legislative decision makers. What the entire Committee has descended into is a venue for anti-China "experts" to extoll everything the Committee has already concluded. It's a farce. The entirety of my engagement today is rather straight forward. I'm a red blooded American who just so happens to have lived in China for 30 years. I can see well beyond the horizon and, with that, what is coming. The EV industry is gone. So is the humanoid robotics space and, I would argue, is LLM ecosystem. I will just continue to hammer these points home until the message is finally received, if ever. Consider the past 48 hours and the sheer number of not only newly minted Iranian experts, but somehow an entire new graduating class of China experts as well. I do my best to keep a lid on my reactions to it all, and I thank yoga for that, but my patience is rapidly running out. Rant over! And my thanks for the question.
