US Defense Secretary Refutes "Endless War" Claims, States No Intentions of Getting Bogged Down

U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has rejected the notion that the war in Iraq will devolve into the kind of "endless conflict" that former President Trump vowed to avoid. Austin asserted that "our generation is much clearer on the stakes" involved.

During a press briefing, Austin characterized U.S. ambitions as "realistic, not utopian." He further stated, "This is not Iraq, this is not endless. Our generation, and the President, are very clear on that. This is a targeted, destructive, and decisive mission."

Austin described the threat posed by Iran as imminent, alleging that the nation has established a conventional weapons shield to protect its nuclear ambitions. He stated that Iran "is holding a conventional weapon to our head."
