👧: Why?
👨: They were built for a different war than the current one and didn't offer enough protection.
👧: There is a war? Who with whom?
👨: ...OK, so it's pretty far away, in Iran [map], and it's the USA [map] that is causing this. Some prelude to a war, you may say. 
👧: Why?
👨: Well, you see [... a mid-length #infodump later...] so Putin believes that thanks to the Russian empire having historical dibs on Ukraine, it was OK to try to annex it to help boost his political standing, which is basically one of the reasons Trump is doing this with Iran now, but Iran has some problems of its own, so we kind of close our eyes on it, since having Iran weakened weakens Russia too.
👧: What problems do they have in Iran?
👨: I would be happy to explain, but we are for some reason running half an hour late already. Wonder where that time went.
