EU countries are trading more within their own block, including in services, energy, and defense. Partly due to the block increasing in size and population (now over 450 million people), partly due to higher risk associated with trade to China and USA. They are also formalizing and increasing trade with other European countries, such as Switzerland, Norway, and Ukraine.

The UK is now actively pursuing a closer trade-union with the EU; a pivot from their focus on the "Special Relationship" with the USA.
