In a brief telephone interview with The New York Times, Trump said the U.S. military intends to sustain its assault on Iran for “four to five weeks” if necessary, insisting Washington and Israel can maintain the intensity of the attack despite the risk of further American casualties.

He said the Pentagon has ample forces, missiles, and munitions stockpiled to continue the strikes, and floated scenarios for Iran’s future leadership, suggesting the top leadership could be removed while much of the existing power structure remains in place under new terms aligned with U.S. interests.
