Excellent observation. No matter the improvements on the protocol as a social media space, it is still a popularity contest at best/battle of wits, at worst, and there is still negativity and engagement farming. I find myself getting sucked into that sometimes. However, I don't want to nudge nostr users to prove themselves to do this. Zaps and other interactions are good enough rewards for those who provide value and given by the people who find them valuable...the community does what it does. I'm here because I don't want yet another social space telling people what to do...oftentimes, when the loudest voices are spewing things I don't care for, I find comfort in silly shitposts/memes/wholesome stuff. Nostr is what any user makes of it. I can love it, warts and all, or leave it. It's a free space, and I wouldn't force it, nor its users, to be any other way.
