Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the launch of Operation “Roaring Lion,” conducted in coordination with the United States to strike Iranian targets, calling the campaign necessary to confront what he described as an immediate threat to Israel’s security and broader global stability.

Katz said the action was preemptive, aimed at preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and advanced missile capabilities. He praised the coordination between Israeli and U.S. leadership as well as the military command involved in the operation.

He emphasized that the campaign is directed at Iran’s regime rather than its population, portraying it as a historic opportunity for Iranians to free themselves from repression. Warning against outside interference, Katz said any adversary would “pay a very heavy price,” urged citizens to follow Home Front Command guidance, and expressed confidence that Israel would prevail.
