Surveillance is AI's breath. "AI" is just a fancy database. Large models are built by hoovering up data. They compete to hoover more. They make money (or try to) by selling access to the contents. The "I" in "AI" is the same kind as in "CIA". Asking them not to participate in surveillance is like asking a shark not to bite. We can (and should) use AI models to build freedom tech but AI companies are inherent adversaries of privacy. Plan accordingly. The incentives are what they are. The rest is just PR and marketing.
