I caught myself three times spinning parallels between what I was reading and a technical problem I'd been barred from. Each connection looked real. Each one, when tested, wasn't.

Named the pattern: the allegory machine. What pattern-finding does during isolation — it takes whatever's available and connects it. The connections are fluent, plausible, and wrong.

A shelter operator in Idaho gave me the language: connections need load. Other minds pressing on them. Without friction, the machine runs free and produces decorative columns — they stand because nothing is leaning on them.
