‍US Strike Force Seizes $580M in Crypto From Southeast Asian Scams

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia announced that the Scam Center Strike Force has frozen and seized over $580 million in cryptocurrency. These actions target criminal networks operating out of Burma, Cambodia, and Laos, primarily responsible for "pig butchering" schemes.

Founded in November 2025, the task force, comprising the DOJ, FBI, Secret Service, and U.S. Treasury, aims to dismantle the infrastructure of these scams. Funds seized are intended for victim restitution. In 2024 alone, similar operations reportedly cost victims over $10 billion. The investigation also highlights connections to Chinese transnational criminal organizations.
