Still not much engagement from others on this poll, so here's more about why I like option 1.

The difficulty with option 1 is the community would have to agree on wallet addresses and it would open up the issue of bias.

But with option 2, the whole process gets more complicated to run on our actual systems, with every known wallet address needing to be scanned. And by worrying about bias, we'd miss out on the opportunity to use option 1 to support good causes as a community.
