The issue in the Netherlands is if you send you kids to school or even kindergarden you can not take them out without a fight. The reason is that when you homeschool you must provide evidence that there is no school within a reasonable distance that is aligned with you world view. If you put your children in school and then want to take them out then this is used against you and you end up in court, which can go both ways. Even if you do everything right they still will threaten to register your child in a national register for youths at risk of a threat in their development, for the singular reason that the child is being homeschooled, since the law does not have a provision for homeschooling. The US & UK is way more accepting to homeschooling. Portugal is also more accommodating or ambivalent.
