When we get eye witness statements that make intense accusations, we often respond with “well they must be crazy.” And certainly those who are mentally ill will say some wild, wild stuff! But we need to be very careful not to dismiss people even when what we are hearing breaks our current understanding of reality. Yes simple insanity is always a possibility, but also, it’s always possible that reality is stranger than we realized. An example…

In May 2018, Jonathan Oddi was arrested after firing shots inside the lobby of the Trump National Doral Golf Club in Miami, carrying an American flag and ranting at police. During his arrest and interrogation, Oddi claimed that P Diddy had hired him as a “sex slave”, saying he had sex with both Diddy and Cassie. At the time he was dismissed as rambling and not credible. His statements were outside the commonly accepted norm. Sex parties with celebrities? Clearly just a crazy man!

Fast forward to 2025, at Diddy’s trial, Cassie testified that indeed Diddy hired male sex workers and did hire Oddi. 

Sometimes reality is just really fucking weird!
