A man in South Korea is accused of attempting to murder his business partner by poisoning his iced coffee with a highly toxic pesticide, reportedly due to a failed cryptocurrency investment. According to DLNews, the 39-year-old defendant allegedly used methomyl, a banned pesticide illicitly purchased from China, in the assassination attempt. The two individuals had been collaborating on Bitcoin investments since 2022, but their relationship soured when the defendant is said to have misappropriated $810,000 in company funds for personal investments that subsequently failed. The alleged poisoning occurred in a cafe in Seoul's Songpa District in November. The defendant faces charges for attempted murder and violations of pesticide management laws. His trial is scheduled to commence on March 10, 2026, at the Seoul Eastern District Court. #crypto #blockchain #news #BTC #Bitcoin
