🇮🇷Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has delegated significant authority to Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani as tensions rise over a potential conflict with the U.S. and Israel, according to NYT.

➡️ Larijani is now overseeing major security, military, and diplomatic matters, effectively sidelining President Masoud Pezeshkian’s role. Khamenei reportedly granted him expanded powers in early January amid nationwide protests.

➡️ The Supreme Leader has also directed extensive contingency planning, including layered succession arrangements in the event senior leaders, potentially including himself, are killed.

➡️ At the same time, Iran has heightened military readiness by placing forces on alert, repositioning missile systems, conducting drills, and preparing internal security units to manage possible unrest during wartime.
