US Supreme Court Ruling May Lead to Automatic Cancellation of China Tariffs

Following a ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court, tariffs imposed on China under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), specifically those related to fentanyl and retaliatory measures, may be automatically rescinded. According to U.S. executive orders, these tariffs are slated for termination "as soon as practicable."

Furthermore, "temporary tariffs" enacted by the U.S. under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974 are subject to potential legal challenges on grounds of statutory interpretation. Expert Cui Fan indicated that should the U.S. adjust its tariff policies, China would evaluate the situation and consider reciprocal measures.
