DFINITY Foundation Revamps Internet Computer Tokenomics, Allocating 80% of Cloud Engine Revenue to Nodes

The DFINITY Foundation has announced significant adjustments to the economic model of its Internet Computer (ICP) protocol. Moving away from a fixed compensation system for node operators, the foundation's new strategy will see 80% of revenue generated by its cloud engine services distributed directly to nodes providing computational power. The remaining 20% of this revenue will be used for burning ICP tokens.

This strategic shift aims to align node provider incentives more closely with the platform's actual business revenue. As multiple node provider associations are actively marketing Internet Computer-based cloud engine services to enterprises across Europe, this move is expected to bolster the adoption of ICP for enterprise-grade applications. Concurrently, the token burn mechanism is designed to enhance ICP's value capture capabilities.
