To figure this out you have to think about mission objectives, my belief is Iran is better positioned to achieve its mission objectives than the US. The entire country of Iran is uninvadable. The US can't win a conflict through bombs or boots on the ground but the US can cause alot of death and collapse certain aspects of life for citizens there. Iran has the capability of shutting down all economic activity in the entire middle East, from Turkey to all countries in North Africa.
