A greek pleb on this island told me…

“Go there. Up in the mountains. Special place.”

An old woman in her garden.

Growing her own food.

Bakes it & cooks it.

Nothing bought but everything lived. 

I went for brunch.

Place was full so no brunch for me.

Instead…she looked at me.

Sat next to me & gave me a coffee.

Handed me a slice of selfmade pumpkin bread.

We talked a little.

Then she took my hand and said:
“Come.”

Suddenly I’m not a customer anymore.

I’m inside her house.

Her kitchen & her living room.

And another room.

Cards on the table.

Drawing.

Silence.

Stories without words.

I left without brunch….

but with something else in my pocket.

I‘ll leave that right here as it is. 

Some things just can’t be bought.

And some places don’t sell food...

but feed you anyway.
