There are connections here that I never knew.
The Jews would have recognized these details...

Mary anoints Jesus but the disciples fail to see the significance. All they see is wasted money.
• Dead bodies anointed during burial preparations
• Kings anointed
• Priests anointed
• The temple and it's various implements anointed
• Messiah MEANS Anointed One


Judas paid 30 pieces of silver, Zechariah paid 30 pieces of silver for his services as a prophet as an insult, 30 pieces of silver the price of the life of a slave. 

Judas throws the silver back to the priests in the temple and they buy the potter's field with it, Zechariah throws the silver back into the potter in the temple rejecting the payment and insult.
