I am genuelly confused by those super tight beany-like hats that only cover the very tip top of your head but not your ears. Like wearing a tiny knitted bowl on your dome.

I live in cold climate country (Finland) and I was taught to cover my ears properly to protect them from the cold. Last time I checked, eardrums don't like to be frozen. Nor do earlobes....
