Looking through my old 20th century #motoring books (some from mid 1930s), it became apparent that although #car ownership was still a thing for the fairly rich then, there was already a lot of innovation and co-operation *across Europe* and from the USA. That stalled around 1939-1945 (for obvious reasons!) - there was a big gap until the late 1950s before the industry started recovering - folk still drove #cars, but kept older ones going for many years. There's a big lesson here from history (especially what is likely to happen to the rising adoption of EVs should #WW3 escalate and supplies of materials needed to make batteries and their components are impacted (due to destruction of factories and/or resources being diverted towards #military requirements)
